So it’s a few days after Speed Week 2008 and we still do not have the 200mph hat.
Back up to the last November - I tore the engine down after World Finals to find
that the number 4 piston had totally disintegrated.
I am not sure if the piston came apart or a valve broke and took the piston out,
but the engine was basically scrap at this time. A call to Rick at Erion and John
Ethell from Jett Tuning and new cases, pistons and crank were on the way.
The rods needed some cleaning up but did not have to be replaced. Vance & Hines
redid the head and the engine was back together. To get the power to come on smoother
we decided to install a boost controller. To use this, we had to install an internal
waste gate and do some porting to the turbine housing.
After everything was put together the bike was running really well. The boost controller
worked excellent which allowed us 3 stages of boost control.
The Friday before Speed Week I buttoned up the bike, cleaned it, and made sure everything
was ready to go. At approximately 4:20am August 16th, Saturday morning, two guys
decided they wanted the bike more than me and stole it from Dynojet’s warehouse.
The monetary value of the bike is bad enough but to
lose all that time that I put into it was heart wrenching. I am not sure what anyone
would do with this bike as everything was custom built so it can not be easily parted
out nor can you ride it on the street.
We are posting the picture of the two guys that stole
it and the video of them in the act. If anyone has any information about this PLEASE
let us know. We are offering a $5000 no-questions-asked reward for the return or
information leading to the return of the bike.
