The 2011 Pikes Peak Hill Climb was a long hot day. We had a lot of delays. Some cars lost motors and oiled the road. One went off at Ragged Edge, a corner above timber line about 12,000 feet and landed unhurt about 100 yards down the mountain.
Yikes what a ride. The motorcycle division had a few riders who crashed. Two went to the hospital with minor injuries but everyone survived the day. A lot of records were broken due to the new section of asphalt at the top section.
I was able to win the 450 class and lower the overall record by about 25 seconds. That also put me at 4th overall on the day.

Blackout Racing headed up to Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele Utah for the WERA National on June 17 through the 19th. This would be our first WERA event for the 2011 season and we knew we would have out work cut out for us with some of the fastest up and coming racers in the US attending.
We started off Friday with some valuable track time getting familiar with the circuit as its been a year since the last visit. We struggled a bit with some really extreme bike chatter in the hard braking areas of the circuit.
We played with the suspension set up a lot trying to narrow it down. Nothing was solving our problem. It was something we have never experienced before and was getting frustrating…

The team arrived Wednesday to Sunny Northern CA and prepared the Bikes for the second round of racing in the AMA Pro superbike championship. The weather was cool and the potential for rain made it a challenging weekend for all. Infineon raceway has always proved to be a very difficult track for all competitors and is definitely the most technical that we will visit all season.
The first practice saw times consistently dropping and the field pushing for that best lap before it all counts in the next session. The track time allowed the boys to dial in the bikes, figure out the best lines and make the adjustments that will propel them around for their fastest laps.
Qualifying saw Dave in 9th, Jordan in 17th and so far Johnny did not make the cut.
